Personal Trainer Foods Day 4-6

Well I forgot to post about my meals from Friday till Sunday so I am going to group them all at once, hooray!

I knew I was going to have filapino food on Thursday before watching the USA World Cup game so I did not have any of the PTF today.

Day 4: Lunch
Friday I worked from home and knew I'd be out for the One Republic and Script concert so I only had PTF for lunch.  I had "grilled" chicken and a veggie mix.  The chicken was questionable this time around.  It felt and looked really rubbery.  It did not taste terrible, but I would not choose to have this again if I dont have to.

Grilled Chicken- 140
Forgot what kind of veggies so we'll guess - 50

And then I went and had Chik-fil-a deliciousness for dinner and a snickers bar. Sorry I am not sorry.  Again this is mostly for convenience on weeknights. I've decided if I am home and wanting to on weekends, or any day, i'll eat the PTF, if I want to have something else, I will. dammit.

Day 5: Lunch
Saturday was another crazy busy day.  I had a haircut, ran errands, grabbed a quick PTF lunch (the reason I have them!) got ready, and then met up with some friends for my gf's 40th bday dinner in DC.

Todays lunch was the angus burger, some ketchup, duh, and some veggies.

Burger - 300
veggies - 40

Then I had gnocchi and halibut for dinner, and liquor drinks, and danced for 4 hours straight. Well worth it.

Day 6: Lunch

Sunday, so tired.  Didn't get home from seeing Gareth Emery till 4 something, then couldnt sleep till after 5:30. The sun was up, thats bad.  Slept a bit, got up and did work, had a quick PTF lunch, and then headed to MD for my nephew, Colin's bday!

Marinated Chicken - 110
veggies - 40

Then I went and had chips, cheese dip, mexican dip, a burger, and a small piece of cake.  Sad thing was that there was too much sugar in the cake, or it was because I had too much cheese, not sure but my stomach wasnt super happy with me.

Personal Trainer Foods Day 3

Personal Trainer Foods Day 3

Today started just like yesterday, hard to get out of bed, had to set 2 alarms, ya know the usual.  Finally got up, made it to work for my call with my customer and well, they didn't show up.  I am not too upset about that one so moving on.  Had to take my car in to get it serviced which I am dreading because 1. It'll cost a fortune I'm sure, they'll tell me I need something done, that I might not need done, and 2. It will probably not be done before 430 like I requested.

At around 11 I had my "breakfast" of a Slim fast shake again.  These actually do taste pretty good I have to say.  I have had them plenty of times before because I am an on the go breakfast type person.  However they definitely do not keep you full for too long.  Its 12:47 and I am starving.  I'll chug some more water and have my lunch around 1pm.

Also must drink water, doing hot flow yoga tonight at 6:30, and its been a while. I also think I forgot my ankle brace so this should be interesting.  Heres to sweating and falling! Sidenote: I need a new mat, its getting real flat. Basically I'd be better off doing yoga on the floor.

Lunch time!  Today I had Meatballs with Onions, Broccoli, and I added a side salad of lettuce and Olive Garden dressing (its crack for me).  The meatballs weren't the most flavorful things in the world but I added a little honey bbq sauce as a dipper and it tasted better.

Just went to pick up my car from the shop, holy hell its hot out.  I had to walk 3-4 blocks to meet the shuttle driver to take me to the Honda dealership and I was miserable. Oh well, car is back in my possession, didn't cost as much as I expected, no up-sell, and they washed it. Pretty sweet!

After yoga I ran home, showered and made PTF Sausage, put it in a bowl, and hopped in the car and went to my friends soccer game.  Nothing like eating sausage in a bowl while on the highway.  I can say this was not my favorite meal, but it wasn't horrible.

Slim fast shake - 190
Meatballs with onions - 100
Broccoli - 40
BBQ sauce -30
Lettuce - 5
OG Dressing - 60
PB granola - 170
Bacon and cheese sausage- 180
Broccoli - 40

Total - 815

Yoga Flow - 585

Personal Trainer Foods Day 2

Well today marks the 2nd day of my Personal Trainer Food Experience.  I started off the day with a slim fast shake for breakfast, around 11am, but still breakfast as it was my first meal.  Around 1pm I decided it was time for lunch.  Today's meal included Bacon and Cheddar Chicken Sticks and a Bermuda mix of veggies. It wasn't so bad.  I did hit 2 pieces that were like bone, rock hard, I do not have a clue what they are but I did not want to investigate. I spit it out and kept on moving without dwelling on it too much.

And the inside of the Chicken Stick. Not too shabby.

I was getting a little hungry so at 3:30 I made some ants on the log, minus the Ants and then had a thing of string cheese.  I prepared for me being hungry last night by going to Giant and picking up some strawberries, apples, celery, and String cheese.

After work I drove home, changed in 2 mins flat, and then got back on the highway in rush hour, joy, and went straight to volleyball.  I had a 7pm game (3 games = 1 set) and then potentially was going to play more at 8.  I always forget how awful the Fairfax Sportsplex is in the summer, or anytime really.  There is NO AC.  Literally none, no cool breeze, nothing. You would think for the ridiculous amount of money that we pay that we'd get some damn AC in there.  Nothing like dripping all over the court and looking up to follow the ball and have sweat drip right into your eye the moment you are trying to hit...fun.

I ended up only playing 1 game at 8 so I took myself home, nasty and sweaty, and hopped in the shower then prepared my PTF meal.  I decided to have the Spicy Breaded Chicken Breast, Mixed Vegetables, and a small salad of just romaine lettuce and some of the Olive Garden dressing (had a leftover one, used maybe a tablespoon, but prob not).  Not too shabby!  The chicken ended up shrinking a bit when it was warmed up but I was pretty full to be honest. I did crave chocolate so I had a Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark square

Personal Trainer Foods Day 1

Today (well yesterday) is the day that I start the Personal Trainer Food, well, food. I woke up in the morning, looked at the madness in the freezer and grabbed a protein and a veggie and ran out the door. Come lunch time I was a bit skeptical, it looked small, and I wasn't sure how edible it really would be.  I took a look at the food randomly selected and I had ended up with the Buffalo Chicken Ranch sticks (2 sticks) and Broccoli.

Looked at the directions on the bag and it says to throw the veggies in for 2 mins and the chicken said 1 min. Done and Done. Below is the final product, with a little honey BBQ sauce that I "borrowed" from someone at work.

Surprising enough, it wasn't too bad at all. I won't lie, I was nervous, I did not think it would be edible but I was happy with it.  The broccoli tasted like regular steamed broccoli and the chicken sticks themselves weren't too bad.  I am not sure if it was the most natural, healthy chicken in the world, but it was pretty good.  Day 1 Lunch 1 Complete!

My struggle during the day is when I get bored I want to eat, and what I choose to eat is typically chocolate. We have a candy bowl at work and I will literally go in, take a handful, and hoard it at my desk.  That handful is 100% eaten by the end of the day, and sometimes I even go back for more.  At least there is no surprise on why I am not losing weight, I know that my snacking and desserts after dinner are what gets me. Today (yesterday) I tired my absolute hardest not to eat snacks in between.  I am trying to actually not eat any of the candy bowl at work, we'll see how long this lasts but I am trying!  I did have a glazed donut for breakfast which wasn't healthy, but it was delicious.  I had 2-3 (I can't remember) Peanut butter granola bars during the day to tide me over between meals and the gym.

I went to the gym and did my body jam class that I love and have missed dearly.  It is my favorite work out at the gym.  I get to shake my booty, sweat, lose my breath, and burn some serious calories.  In total after this work out I burned about 800 calories in a 1 hour class.  My ankle does not feel good, but I'll say it was worth it.  I ran to the store to get some milk, some fruit for snacks while doing the PTF, and some string cheese for a snack, even though I don't know how long that'll work for me, I am not a cheese person.  If you do the diet strict its basically just the meals they give you, nothing else, however as I stated I am just doing this for convenience and if I happen to drop some weight doing it, thats an added bonus (I hope that happens).  So even though fruit is not on the diet because of the sugar, it is that or handfuls of chocolate, so I'll choose the fruit for now.

Home around 9 and it is dinner time.  I chose to have the Cajun Chicken and the Garden mixed veggies.  I again was surprised at how it didn't taste terrible.  The chicken had a little bit of a spice but nothing out of this world hot, and the veggies tasted like steamed veggies.  Finished that up with a glass of milk, I did allow myself to have 4 chips ahoy cookies (there were 4 left in the bag so I figured i'd eat them to get them out of the house, and in my belly) and that was it for the night.  I actually felt very full after my meal.  Not too bad for day 1 I'd say.

Total Calories for the day
Glazed Donut - 270
Buffalo Ranch - 360
Broccoli - 40
Peanut butter Granola - 170 x 3 = 510
Cajun Chicken - 210
Garden mix - 25
4 Cookies - 280

Total = 1695
Work out - 800

Not too bad at all. Day 1 complete.

The Beginning and Personal Trainer Foods

Well I never thought that I would ever do something like this but here I am.  I decided to start this to keep track of the Personal Trainer Foods program that I ordered off of Groupon, however maybe I'll even ramble about a few other things while I am here.

I am almost never home, seriously, never home.  I work all day and then usually I go straight to the gym for a class or I have volleyball or soccer.  On gym days I typically get home around 730-830, unless I go grocery shopping after, which happens often, I get home around 9 something.  This doesn't leave me with a lot of time to throw together a delicious dinner, or when I do, I end up eating around 10pm, not ideal.  When I have sports I can get home anywhere from 8pm to midnight, which leads to me skipping meals or picking up something quick.

Because of this when I saw a Groupon for 28 Lunches and Dinners from a group called Personal Trainer Foods and after reading a bunch of reviews on Yelp I decided to give it a try. They say you can lose up to 30lbs and all that typical diet mumbo jumbo but I chose to try it more for a convenience reason. It will serve as something quick that I can make at lunch at work and after my work outs.  You freeze the meals, microwave them, and eat, how simple is that?

Also I tore my ankle on April 4th and it still has not healed, therefore I am sidelined from soccer as well as many of my usual gym classes.  This kills me. I am such a gym/sports rat that having to sit out literally makes me go crazy.  I have been able to sneak in a few work outs, even though I shouldn't, and I've played for my women's volleyball team (again I shouldn't) but it is not the same.  This leaves me at the heaviest I've weighed in a while.   I was on a roll, toning up, eating healthy, snacking on chocolate but working out so not feeling guilty about it and that all changed.  I had been toying with trying Paleo and this diet is pretty close to the Paleo guidelines so I figured why not try it.  Convenience and eating right, and hey, if I drop a few pounds in the process thats an added bonus!  Will I do this for 28 lunches and dinners straight, no, I am out of town a few days during it and I will not deprive myself of special occasion stuff, bday dinners, bbqs, so on.  But I am going to try to stick to it as much as I can! Alright now that that is out of the way...

First up, purchase the groupon.  It cost $199 for 28 lunches and 28 dinners, done.  Next follow the Groupon directions to the Personal Trainer Food site and pick out the meals that I want.  Here I was able to pick out 56 veggies and 56 proteins (Paleo much?).  It seemed a bit overwhelming but I just went through the list, picked anything I thought looked decent, and then moved along.  Next up was picking a delivery date.  I thought it would be the typical scenario where you order and it comes x number of days after the order.  However here they gave you the option of a few days to have it delivered on which was a nice perk.  Because I was going to be out of town the early delivery day, I chose the next day which was Friday the 20th.  I ended up working from home that day which was nice so that when the food arrived I could unpack it right away.  The food arrived exactly on the day that I chose and it came in a  HUGE box, really, HUGE!

I open the box up and see a ton of frozen stuff packed with dry ice.  Below is a picture of inside the box just to get an idea.

Now comes the overwhelming part, I had to take out all of the meals, organize them by the type of food they are, empty my freezer (seriously, empty it) and then organize it in the freezer in a way that I can figure out wtf is what.  The final product is below. Hello frozen food craziness!

Day 1 details in a follow up post.
